Handwriting practice is an essential component of an early literacy lesson. It is important to connect the sound and name to the handwriting form.
This resource will support students in using the Trace, Copy, Cover strategy to learn or review their lowercase and uppercase forms. Students can then find the letter in a group of similar looking letters for extra recognition practice. A picture of a keyword to help students recall the letter name and sound is included, and makes a great coloring wrap up activity.

Brain breaks are an important part of learning. I incorporate them into each lesson for all learners. This FREE set includes 18 choice cards with ideas for a brain break. It also includes label cards so you can build a brain break ring, and it includes a pass-it-on card for a student to pass on a brain break idea to a friend.
Parents - use this at home to help support your child who sometimes just needs a suggestion for a meaningful break. Do the brain break together as a family! We could all use a reset!
Laminate the cards and put them on a ring.
Use magnetic tape to put them on your dry-erase board.
Place the cards in a small container and let the students draw out an idea.

This is a set of 80 VCV Words to introduce, review, or reinforce the V_CV or VC_V Syllable Division Patterns.
Use the card set as a sorting activity, warm-up, homework task, literacy center, partner work, or introductory tool.
Note: You will need to sort cards or be prepared to have taught the concept of schwa. When you get to syllable division, you will quickly come across words that have a schwa sound.
This set offers four part practice similar to the Trace, Cover, Copy, Closed that is popular in the Orton-Gillingham and Slingerland Approaches.
This set contains lowercase and uppercase MANUSCRIPT letters. It also contains number formation practice for numbers 1-10. A cursive set is in the works!

Phonological awareness (including the subskill of phonemic awareness) is critical for learning to read. Short vowels are often a stumbling block for students. You can add phoneme-grapheme mapping to help link the sound to the symbol. This set will help reinforce short vowels, phonological awareness skills, and has a place to include phoneme-grapheme mapping.
This set includes 105 practice pages and word lists. The tasks are full page, so print them out and put them in sheet protectors for multiple uses!
